Atlanta Sports Council and Partners Shift Focus from FIFA World Cup 2026 to Super Bowl LXII as Atlanta Marks 500 Days to Kickoff

ATLANTA (Oct. 5, 2026) – The Atlanta Sports Council’s Championship Hosting Division today announced the formation of the Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee (ASBHC), marking 500 days to go until Super Bowl LXII on Feb. 13, 2028.

The ASBHC is responsible for helping to plan, organize and support activities and events that will enhance the Super Bowl LXII experience for the region. The committee is comprised of local leaders in business, sports and tourism who act as the liaison between the NFL, the City of Atlanta, the State of Georgia and the broader community. The ASBHC features organizations from across the public and private sectors, including the Atlanta Sports Council, Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, Metro Atlanta Chamber, Georgia World Congress Center Authority and AMB Sports and Entertainment, as well as other regional partners.

Super Bowl LXII will be the fourth time Atlanta has hosted the game and the second at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Atlanta previously hosted Super Bowls XXVIII in 1994, XXXIV in 2000 and LIII in 2019.

“Major sporting events have long been part of Atlanta’s identity, and their success is built on collaboration across all sectors of our community,” said Dan Corso, president of the Atlanta Sports Council and Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee. “As we turn our attention to Super Bowl LXII, we have an experienced community of partners who understand what it takes to host events of this scale and are ready to come together once again to deliver an incredible experience for Atlanta.”

Additionally, the ASBHC used the occasion to launch its brand and digital presence, which can be seen across digital billboards around the city as well as on its website www.SB62Atlanta.com. Community members interested in getting involved with the event are encouraged to visit the site and sign up for updates.

The announcement marks a natural transition in Atlanta’s major-event focus following an incredible run of global events in the past 24 months, including hosting eight matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship, the 2025 MLB All-Star Game and six matches during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™. Additionally, the city has already been awarded the NCAA Men’s Final Four in 2031.

The unprecedented run of events led the Sports Business Journal to name Atlanta the No. 1 city for sports business in its annual ranking.

“Atlanta continues to demonstrate why it is one of the world’s premier destinations for major sporting events,” said Corso. “Coming off an incredible run of recent events, we have an opportunity to carry that momentum forward as we begin the road to Super Bowl LXII. Hosting our fourth Super Bowl is another chance to showcase what makes Atlanta special – our world-class venues, our hospitality and, most importantly, the collaboration and energy of our community. Over the next 500 days, our focus will be on delivering an exceptional experience for residents and visitors while creating a positive and lasting impact across our region.”

In the months ahead, the Host Committee will share additional details about community initiatives, volunteer opportunities, partnerships, hospitality and events leading into Super Bowl LXII.
